This role can be remote: FE Job Title: Telecom Project Coordinator Project Overview – EnergizeNJ Telecom Infrastructure Coordination Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L), a FirstEnergy company, launched a major smart grid expansion initiative across northern and central New Jersey. This effort is part of the approved EnergizeNJ Infrastructure Investment Program (IIP), authorized by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU). The program will invest over $202.5 million over a three-and-a?half-year period beginning July 1, 2025, to modernize the electric distribution grid with advanced automation and remote?control capabilities. Key Program Components - Grid Modernization: A $20.4 million initiative to replace solid fuses with TripSaver II devices, which automatically reenergize lines after temporary faults. This includes installation of remotely controlled devices for faster damage isolation. - System Resiliency: A $128.9 million investment to optimize power circuits for flexibility and reliability, install circuit ties for rerouting during outages, and modernize line devices. - Substation Modernization: Upgrades to protection relays and installation of modern monitoring devices to enhance visibility and control at substations. Telecom Coordination Scope The Enterprise Technologies business unit oversees the SCADA and communications infrastructure supporting EnergizeNJ. This includes deploying network communications for substation and line device monitoring and control across the JCP&L service territory. Key coordination activities include: - Scheduling and aligning internal and external stakeholders such as contractors, engineers, and technicians. - Tracking deliverables, budgets, and timelines, and escalating issues as needed. - Supporting requirement gathering and documentation for the annual project pipeline. - Monitoring task completion, material procurement, and milestone achievement. - Facilitating weekly project meetings and maintaining detailed agendas, notes, and action items. - Maintaining dashboards and status reports to inform leadership. - Coordinating field testing and documenting results. - Managing in-service date trackers and updating project dashboards. Qualifications - Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in computer science, technology, engineering, business, or a related field with 1–2 years of relevant work experience; in lieu of a degree, 3–4 years of related experience will be considered - Related work experience may include: IT/OT project coordination, technical scheduling, project tracking, or similar support roles - Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word); experience with project scheduling tools preferred - Familiarity with communications technologies (fiber, digital microwave, field area networks, SCADA/RTU communications, routing & switching) is a plus but not required - Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to document clearly and coordinate across multiple teams - Detail-oriented, motivated, and eager to learn new technologies and project processes - Familiarity with general engineering documentation or an electrical background is preferred - Experience with Microsoft Power BI or other reporting tools is a plus but not required Project Execution Notes - This is a full-time contractor Project Coordinator position. - This project is executed 100% remotely with location restrictions (cannot be in the states of California, Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Montana, Nebraska, New York, Oregon, and Washington), although candidates within the FirstEnergy service territory are preferred
