What are the different types of neurodivergence?

People who identify themselves as neurodivergent typically have one or more of the conditions or disorders listed below. However, since there aren’t any medical criteria or definitions of what it means to be neurodivergent, other conditions also can fall under this term as well. People with these conditions may also choose not to identify themselves as neurodivergent.

Some of the conditions that are most common among those who describe themselves as neurodivergent include, but are not limited to:

Description

Experience Required: 2+ years in academic lab instruction or lab support
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Biology

Skills Required:

Lab preparation: aseptic technique, media prep, sample slide preparation
Instrumentation: Light microscope calibration, lab safety compliance
Instructional experience for students (college or high school level)
Strong communication skills and attention to detail in lab environments
Data entry, lab inventory management, statistical data representation in Excel

Responsibilities:

Support biology educators in preparing and maintaining lab spaces
Guide students on safe and effective laboratory procedures
Monitor equipment, manage supplies, and maintain compliance with safety guidelines
Document student activities and help interpret experiment results

Certifications Preferred: Laboratory Safety in Education, Basic Life Sciences Instruction
