Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The Phlebotomist will be responsible for drawing blood from patients for various lab tests, transfusions, donations, or research. This role requires excellent attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to make patients feel at ease during the procedure.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect blood samples using venipuncture, heel stick, or finger stick techniques.

  • Label and process specimens according to established protocols.

  • Maintain accurate records of patient information and specimen collection.

  • Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the procedure.

  • Prepare specimens for laboratory testing.

  • Maintain phlebotomy equipment and supplies.

  • Follow all safety, infection control, and confidentiality standards.

  • Interact professionally with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

  • Handle difficult patients or situations with tact and professionalism.


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Certification in phlebotomy (e.g., CPT – Certified Phlebotomy Technician).

  • Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program preferred.

  • CPR certification is a plus.

  • Minimum of 6 months of clinical experience in phlebotomy.

  • Proficient in specimen labeling, processing, and documentation.


Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.

  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.


Working Conditions:

  • May require standing for long periods and handling biohazardous materials.

  • Work may be performed in hospitals, diagnostic labs, clinics, or mobile settings.

  • Occasional weekend or evening shifts may be required.
