Description
The Health Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting healthcare data to provide insights that drive data-informed decisions. This role involves working with medical records, clinical data, and operational information to support healthcare providers, insurers, and policymakers.
Key Responsibilities:

Data Collection & Management
- Gather data from Electronic Health Records (EHR), insurance claims, and other healthcare systems.
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and completeness.
- Maintain and update databases for easy access and reporting.

Data Analysis & Interpretation
- Analyze healthcare data using statistical tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
- Identify trends, patterns, and insights to improve clinical outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Create dashboards and visualizations for data presentation.

Reporting
- Develop reports for stakeholders, including healthcare providers, administrators, and policymakers.
- Summarize key metrics such as readmission rates, treatment effectiveness, and patient demographics.

Compliance & Security
- Ensure data handling aligns with HIPAA and other data protection standards.
- Follow best practices for data privacy and security.

Collaboration
- Work with IT teams, clinicians, and administrators to understand data needs.
- Support strategic initiatives like cost reduction, patient satisfaction, and quality improvement.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, Excel, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Healthcare Knowledge: Understanding of medical terminology, ICD coding, and healthcare data structures.
- Analytical Skills: Strong statistical analysis capabilities and critical thinking.
- Communication Skills: Ability to present data insights to non-technical audiences.
- Certifications: Certifications like CHDA (Certified Health Data Analyst) or CPHQ (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) are advantageous.
